It is a descendant of Zhuanxu, and its ancestors are Dong Fu, Guan Longfeng, and Yin Xi. It is the 153rd contemporary surname in China. The ancestors of the Guan family, who immigrated to the Hongdong Great Pagoda Tree in the Ming Dynasty, were people from Pingyang Prefecture, Hongdong County, Zhaocheng County, and other regions. In the early Ming Dynasty, they were ordered to migrate to different places in the Hongdong Great Pagoda Tree. By the end of the Qing Dynasty, their descendants were distributed in Henan, Shandong, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Shaanxi, Gansu, Anhui, Jiangsu, Hubei, Hunan, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Shanxi, and other places.

③ Originating from the surname Yin. According to the Book of Customs and Customs, during the Spring and Autumn Period, Yin Xi, a high-ranking official of the Zhou Dynasty, served as a customs officer at Hangu Pass. It is said that when Laozi traveled westward and left the Pass, he wrote 5000 words of the "Tao Te Jing" for Yin Xi. Yin Xi spread this book to later generations and followed Laozi to become an immortal. Yin Xi's descendants took the official name of their ancestors, Guan, as their surname.

④ Originating from the transformation of other ethnic groups. The Manchu surname Guan Erjia was later simplified to a single surname Guan.

The county titles of the Guan surname mainly include Longxi County and Donghai County. Longxi County: Established in the 27th year of King Zhaoxiang of Qin during the Warring States period (280 BC), it was named after its location west of Longshan. Equivalent to the area east of Dongxiang and Longxi in Gansu Province today.
