Original surname (yu á n)

It inherits from King Wen of Zhou, with its ancestors being Yuan Bo and Yuan Zhen, and is the 273rd contemporary surname in China. The original ancestors of the Ming Dynasty's Hongdong locust tree immigrants were people from Pingyang Prefecture, Hongdong County, Zhaocheng County, and other places. At the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, they were ordered to migrate to other places from Hongdong locust tree. By the end of the Qing Dynasty, their descendants were distributed in Henan, Shandong, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Shaanxi, Gansu, Anhui, Jiangsu, Hubei, Hunan, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Shanxi and other places.

The earliest record of the original surname can be found in the Eastern Han Dynasty's "Qianfu Lun".

There are two main sources of surnames:

① Originating from the Ji surname. According to the "Urgent Collection of Surnames" and "Annals of Clans", in the early years of the Western Zhou Dynasty, the 16th son of King Wen of Zhou was enfeoffed in Yuanguo, known as Yuanbo. Yuanguo's former territory was located in Qinshui County, Shanxi Province, and later moved eastward to Jiyuan County, Henan Province. After Yuan Guo was destroyed by Jin Guo, the descendants of Yuan Bo took the name of their ancestral fiefdom as their surname.

② Originating from before. In the Spring and Autumn Period, the original territory was destroyed by the State of Jin. The State of Jin enfeoffed the original town in Xianzhen, with the name Yuanzhen, and its descendants took the original surname.

The original surnamed couplets mainly include: Jizhou Xianli (Yuanfu); Surabaya Saints (original constitution).

Famous people: The "Chinese Dictionary of Names" includes 15 cases of Yuan Shi, and the "Chinese Dictionary of Names of Various Dynasties" includes 16 cases. During the Spring and Autumn Period, the famous historical figures with the original surnames of Lu had the original soil, Zheng had the original Fan, and Chen had the original Zhong; Jin State has Yuanzhen; Kong Sect disciple You Yuan Kang; During the Han Dynasty, there was Yuan She, a native of Maoling; During the Tang Dynasty, there was a revival of the original; In the Ming Dynasty, there was originality. According to the seventh national census, there are 96397 people with the original surname in Shanxi Province, 3694 in Linfen City, and 366 in Hongdong County.

Migration: One of the ancestors of the Fangshan Yuan family migrated from Hongdong, Shanxi to Nanzhao Village, Fangshan District, Beijing in the second year of the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty; The ancestor of the Gan Gu Yuan family moved from Hongdong, Shanxi to Yuanjiazhuang Village, Jinchuan Township, Gan Gu County in the early Ming Dynasty. The ancestor of the Jining Yuan family moved from Hongdong County, Shanxi Province to Qufu, Shandong Province in the early Ming Dynasty.
